Robert Winslow has lived a life full of adventure. In 1971 Robert hiked the entire Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. By completing this 2000 -mile journey, he became just the 36th person to have walked the entire trail continuously in one year. Still going at the age of 77, he hopes to complete his hike of the Colorado Trail in the summer of 2022.
Robert is an internationally known nature photographer with thousands of published images. He holds a masters’ degree in Biology and taught Wilderness Studies, outdoor recreation and nature photography at Idaho State University for six years.
After moving to Durango in 1981 Robert was a full-time freelance photographer specializing in wildlife, nature, travel and outdoor recreation.
His work has appeared in books, magazines, on many gift items and in as many as 20 different calendars in one year. He has won numerous photo awards including the National Wildlife Cover Photo Contest out of over 10,000 entries.
His photos have been used in national ad campaigns by such diverse entities as Amtrak, The National Audubon Society, The National Geographic Society, The Nature Conservancy, Phillips Petroleum, Serengeti, and the Detroit Tigers Baseball Club.
Robert also worked one summer as a photographer for Greenpeace. Three of his photos appear on the tails of Frontier Airliners.
From 1989-2017, Robert led well over a hundred different domestic and international photographic tours to exotic locations around the world
