Hike to Columbine Lake
Columbine Lake has to be the bluest lake in Colorado. We will drive up a challenging 4WD road up to the Porphyry basin to start the hike at about 12,300 feet at the Bullion King mine. Then we cross various meadows (all above tree line) in a path that goes up and down until we reach the lake at 12,685 feet. The wildflowers should be nice this time of year. Lunch on a hill overlooking the lake, then return by the same route. This hike will be at a moderate pace to enjoy the flowers and scenery.
No limit. Requires 4WD/HC/Lo to get to the trailhead. Limit two well behaved dogs. Carpool $10. RSVP Clark Lagow clagow@rmi.net
