SO! General Meeting: Kilimanjaro: climbing Africa’s highest peak when you’re past your peak

Two seniors who have recently summitted Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania will share information about the mountain, its people, climate zones, and hiking routes, as well as their personal experiences climbing the highest free standing mountain in the world.

Debby Malcolm received her master’s degree in Technical Communication from the University of Colorado/Denver. She taught at UCD as an adjunct instructor for 20 years while also employed as a technical communicator and manager. After 35 years in the Denver metro area, she moved to Durango four years ago. She continues to work full time as a remote employee in technical communication for an international company.

Missy Rodey has a master’s degree in Public Health Nutrition from Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, OH, and a Certificate of Business from Smith College in Northampton, MA. She has taught nutrition at the University level, practiced as a clinical dietitian specializing in renal disease, and has run several non-profit organizations. She and her husband, Glenn, retired to Durango 20 years ago. She is currently the founder and owner of DeNovo Health Advocacy.
